Working reference
Find the answer, then return to the search.
Filter the topics below. Each one names the normal path and the honest failure state.
From request to result list
What happens after you search
The result list is always the primary answer surface. The companion can change state without hiding or reordering it.
- First
The request is checked against this deployment’s vertical. A request that tries to escape that boundary is refused.
- Then
The owned corpus is searched first. If that retrieval is unavailable, the search shows the failure instead of inventing material.
- Next
An external index is consulted only when coverage or freshness requires it. If expansion fails, owned results remain and the limitation is named.
- Finally
Eligible material is merged into one organic list. The list remains intact when the cited companion streams, abstains, is disabled, or fails.
One combined contract
Narrow without leaving the vertical
Each row explains what the filter accepts and what it refuses to infer.
Limits results to material with a usable publication date inside the chosen interval. It does not manufacture a date for undated material.
Uses the recorded site classification. It does not infer a classification from a page’s appearance during the search.
Narrows by the indexed language. It does not translate material or claim a language that has not been recorded.
Uses recorded country context. It does not guess a location from a domain name or from the person searching.
Applies explicit domain boundaries. Inclusion cannot override the deployment’s vertical, and a domain cannot be included and excluded in the same request.
- The filters combine with one another.
- The same contract applies in the interface and the API.
- Narrowing never expands the configured vertical.
Claim to result
Read the companion through its evidence
- Every supported claim is bound to the result that supports it. Open that result to inspect the source.
- When the retrieved evidence is insufficient, the companion says: The retrieved evidence does not support an answer.
- Streaming, answered, abstained, disabled, and failed states leave the organic result list unaffected.

Correction intake
Report a result with its evidence
- Filed
The report is recorded with the evidence and the result or assessment it concerns.
- Review
This deployment’s staff adjudicates the report. A report can trigger a new domain measurement.
- Decision
A report does not guarantee an outcome. The decision is recorded.
This control is available on a result row, where the result supplies the evidence target. No result is present on this reference page.
Measured use
Units stop at the cap
- One accepted enriched search uses one search unit.
- A retry with the same idempotency key is not charged again.
- The cap is hard. No plan can spend money automatically.
Your own consumption appears at /settings/usage.
